‘I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think.’
Although teachers ask questions and help students in finding the answers, we believe learning isn’t only about finding the right answer but also creating the road that leads to the answer. Learning with every step is the true sign of progress. One certain initiative was recently taken by one of the most renowned and happening schools of Haryana, I.e, Shree Krishna Pranami Public School , Siwani Mandi, Bhiwani; where ‘Inter House English Extempore Competition’ was conducted while providing a great platform to the students in order to develop their communication skills as well as time management skills.
Extempore speech is an on the spot event . Delivering speeches on the spot in a short span of time is the platform where learners get a chance to showcase their confidence and their capabilities to articulate, think and project themselves. Extempore facilitates the young learners to think out of the box . It pushes one to conceive and generate ideas without any preparation. It makes students address and analyze the issue on the spot. The students of all the houses were given the opportunity to participate in the Extempore Speech Competition so that they can improve their logical thinking and reasoning ability skills.
The students of different houses such as Gandhi house, Sarojini house, Subhash house and Vivekanand house were given different topics for speech i.e. Winning is not as important as participation , a change that you would like to bring in India, problem of unemployment in India, silence is not always golden, social media making us antisocial etc.
The jury’s decision was considered the final one for evaluating the performance of the students. The School Principal, Mr. Sunil Sharma appreciated the students for participating in the event and motivated others to willingly participate in upcoming events of the school. Hence, to recapitulate; it was another successful event organized by the faculty members of the English department, headed by Ms. Anuradha Singh( HOD- English), who are always involved in creating a plethora of options for the school students to make their learning experience more productive as well as fruitful .
